BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The Vermont Captive Insurance Association’s 2021 annual conference, slated to be held in Burlington in August, will be a virtual event.

The announcement comes amid uncertainty over the status of other industry events in 2021.

The Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. recently said its 2021 annual convention and exhibition, slated to be held in Chicago April 18-21, will be a hybrid in-person and virtual event, but may pivot to an entirely digital event.

Factors such as hotel/meeting space contractual obligations, programming and technology decisions, ideal platform availability and projected 2021 budget constraints for many companies required a decision be made ahead of the event, VCIA said in a statement Friday.

Feedback from member organizations also indicated travel restrictions in place for 2021 as well as reduced budgets for in-person events, VCIA said.

“In order to make the VCIA annual conference accessible to all who wish to participate, going virtual was chosen as the best and most inclusive option,” Rich Smith, VCIA president, said in the statement.

VCIA’s 2020 annual conference was changed to a virtual format amid concerns over coronavirus.

“As much as VCIA would like to meet in-person, the prospects for having large-scale, in-person conferences in 2021 is not a sure thing. Multiple economic and public health impacts of the pandemic are being felt among our members,” Mr. Smith said.

The 2021 conference, to be held Aug. 10-12, will build on the success of last year’s event and increase opportunities for people to connect in small group-video settings, VCIA said.
