Alternative Service Concepts, LLC (ASC) was formed in Delaware on February 27, 2002. Certain assets of Willis Administrative Services (WASC), a division of Willis North America in operation since 1975, were purchased including staff and clients on May 1, 2002. The management of WASC moved to the position of senior management with ASC. As a workers’ compensation and property and casualty third party administrator (TPA), we specialize in both private and public sector claims administration with an emphasis on a dedicated unit model approach in addition to traditional office claims administration. Approximately 65% of our book of business consists of workers’ compensation (WC) claims, with the remaining balance made up of liability and property claims (P&C). Our purpose is to rehabilitate the injured worker for a recovery and a return to work (WC) and administer client property/auto damage claims and third party injury/damage claims. Many of our locations are staffed with claim supervisors and claim managers, in addition to some full time safety coordinators and managed care nurses. ASC has over 125 employees, of which more than 100 are claim staff located throughout our 20 offices across the country. ASC establishes dedicated claim units by selecting a single claims professional or group of professionals who are assigned to the management of one specific claims program. These individuals are solely responsible for managing the claims program both effectively and efficiently. This includes handling claims from initial notice through resolution. Claim adjusters who work with only one client become vested in their business and their success. They serve as an adjunct risk management team.
