BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The 2020 Rendez-Vous de Septembre, the annual international reinsurance meeting held in Monte Carlo, Monaco, since 1957, has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement Friday, the meeting association, which includes a committee of senior reinsurance executives from more than a dozen countries, said: “The 64th edition of the Rendez-Vous de Septembre, due to be held in Monaco this 12 to 17 September, is cancelled owing to uncertainties linked to the international health situation.”

The meeting, which draws about 3,000 attendees to the tiny principality on the Mediterranean in September each year, is the traditional start of the reinsurance renewal season.

Brokers, underwriters and other service providers schedule back-to-back 30-minute meetings in cafes, hotel lobbies and private suites close to the square around the Monte Carlo Casino to discuss market conditions and renewals.

Numerous other industry events have been canceled due to COVID-19, including the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc.’s annual conference, which was due to be held in Denver next month.

Other events, including the Vermont Captive Insurance Association’s annual conference in August, have been changed to a virtual format.
