Court finds Zurich Insurance liable to pay for rail tunnel damages

South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal has upheld a previous high court ruling that found insurer Zurich Insurance Co. South Africa Ltd. liable to pay for the costs of repairing the damage caused during the construction of underground tunnels for Gauteng’s commuter rail system Gautrain, IOL reported. The ruling said that since the insurance cover was in place at the time of damage to the tunnels, Gauteng government, as insured, has the right to claim damages from Zurich Insurance.
