Colorado lawmakers on Friday introduced a bill to privatize state-chartered Pinnacol Assurance.
Republican-backed bill H.B. 1213 would convert Pinnacol from a political subdivision of the state to a stock insurance company owned by a mutual insurance holding company.
The bill would also remove Pinnacol workers from the state’s pension system.
Proposals to privatize the Pinnacol have been filed in the past, including a push in 2012 led by then-Gov. John Hickenlooper.
The Virginia House of Delegates has passed a bill that would establish the VirginiaSaves retirement program for private sector employees who cannot establish a savings plan through their employer, WRIC reports. The House Bill 2174, which was introduced by Del. Luke Torian (D-Prince William), would be an automatic enrollment Individual Retirement Account through Virginia 529.
