Hiscox Ltd. named Megan McConnell as chief underwriting officer for its U.S. business.
She succeeds Eric Micheals, who was named to the role in January 2018 and “is still in underwriting at Hiscox,” a spokesman for the London-based insurer said.
Ms. McConnell most recently was director of underwriting for Hiscox Re & ILS.
In her new position, she will be based in New York and report to Steve Langan, CEO for Hiscox USA, the insurer said in a statement Wednesday.
“Megan has a strong track record of success in the industry, from running a syndicate to overseeing Hiscox’s reinsurance underwriting team in London,” Mr. Langan said in the statement.
U.K.-based insurer Hiscox P.L.C. said that a shift to a new IT system for broker-distributed business disrupted its operations and hampered its growth in the first quarter, S&P Global reported. Bob Thaker, chief executive of Hiscox U.K., said that the insurer is also rolling out a new operating model for its broker-distributed business and growth would continue to be subdued until the changes take effect.
