Pricing Platform Inc., a Stamford, Connecticut-based software firm, has made its flagship app U1 available as a cloud service or as on-premises software, the company said in a statement Friday.
A tablet version is in the development, it added.
The web-based platform for underwriting decision-making can be used by commercial property underwriters, in particular large and middle-market commercial property underwriters, to perform exposure analysis, exposure visualization, exposure rating, experience rating, and integrate catastrophe model outputs, according to an email from company President Sito Sarkar.
U1’s user interface is built on web technologies including JavaScript and Java, and the backbone is Microsoft SQL Server, the email said.
"During my years in the industry, I witnessed first-hand how the underwriters and cat modelers suffered from manual processes and lack of support systems. Many underwriters spend more time formatting data and preparing reports, rather than analyzing risk and making the right decisions,” Mr. Sarkar said in the statement. “U1 will transform the way exposure data and pricing models are presented to underwriters, so they can concentrate on what they are hired to do – better risk selection and profitability.”
A review by U.S.-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology predicted that ransomware targeting cloud services is one of the six biggest cyber threats that organizations across the world are likely to face in 2018, Computerweekly.com reported. MIT said that smaller cloud providers are likely to be more vulnerable and pay up if customer data were encrypted and held for ransom. Cyber attacks targeting electrical grids, transportation systems and other types of national critical infrastructure are also expected to increase.
