BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Markel Corp. unveiled a new leadership Wednesday that included naming former Chubb Ltd. executive Robert Cox to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer, insurance operations.

Mr. Cox will oversee Markel's insurance divisions to include Markel Assurance, Markel Specialty and Markel International, as well as sales and marketing, Richmond, Virginia-based Markel said in a statement.

Mr. Cox is based in Summit, New Jersey, and report to co-CEO Richie Whitt. Mr. Cox was most recently executive vice president and chief operating officer for Chubb Ltd.

Markel also said Brad Kiscaden has been promoted to president and chief administrative officer, and Bryan Sanders has been promoted to president, U.S. insurance.

Mr. Kiscaden has been executive vice president and chief actuarial officer since 2012. He joined Markel in 1986 and will continue to report to Mr. Whitt.

Mr. Sanders has been president of the Markel Assurance division since 2017. Prior to the creation of Markel Assurance in late 2017, he was president, Markel Wholesale. He will report to Mr. Cox and oversee the Markel Assurance and Markel Specialty divisions.

All changes will be effective Sept. 5, Markel said.
