A three-member panel with the Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation on Tuesday unanimously approved new reimbursement rates for medical providers, hospitals and ambulatory care centers.
Doctors and outpatient services would see an increase of 0.1%, according to meeting documents citing National Council on Compensation Insurance Inc. figures that state the increase would result in $4 million in added costs.
The increase for ambulatory surgical centers would be 1.5%, or $66 million, according to the document. Hospitals providing inpatient services would collect an extra 1.6%, or $70 million.
The rates would need to be approved by the Florida Legislature, per state law. The matter has not yet been placed on the calendar.
Medical payments per workers compensation claim in Florida remained stable in 2015 following moderate growth from 2010 through 2014, according to a study released Tuesday by the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Workers Compensation Research Institute.
