Corruption probes, bankruptcies spur take-up of D&O in Brazil

Brazilian insurance regulator Susep has said that there has been a surge in Directors and Officers liability insurance market in the country owing to corruption probes and numerous bankruptcies, Reuters reports.

Susep said that the D&O insurance market has more than doubled in value since 2011 based on the volumes of premiums paid.

There has been a rise in D&O premiums, with some clients paying up to 50% more to renew their annual policies, said an official.

D&O claims at Zurich A.G.'s Brazilian unit exceeded premiums by 53% in 2015, added Susep.
