Emir Jadue, head of the Chamber of Commerce in the Chilean town of Puerto Varas, has said that the recent twin eruptions of Calbuco volcano in the country's Los Lagos region would cost the region up to $600 million, reports Dunya News citing Agence France-Presse.

"The agriculture and livestock industry will probably be the hardest hit," said Mr. Jadue. The volcano spewed about 210 million cubic meters of ash contaminating lakes, rivers and vast stretches of prairie.
