Cyclone Nilofar has become stronger and it is just 550 kilometers from Oman, with wind speeds averaging almost 150 kilometers per hour, Emirates 24/7 reports.
The Oman Meteorology Department said the cyclone is unlikely to make landfall, but has issued a marine warning and said high winds and rainfall are likely. Nilofar, now categorized as a “very severe cyclonic storm,” is expected to later re-curve and move towards India and Pakistan, but could weaken by then.
