North American energy sector faces increasing cyber risks: Regulators

Energy regulators in North America have said the region's electricity grid is facing a rising risk of cyber-attacks and urged utilities to allot more resources in defense, The Globe and Mail reported.

One regulatory official said there are many terrorists and foreign states that are targeting the region's energy sector. Another person said that researchers have detected state-sponsored threats from China, Russia and Syria that are aimed at North America, reports The Globe and Mail.
