BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Texas insurance department reports data breach

The Texas Department of Insurance announced Thursday it suffered a data breach involving the web application that manages workers compensation information.

“The types of information that may have been accessible include names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, parts or all of Social Security numbers and information about injuries and workers compensation claims,” the department said in a statement.

TDI is sending letters to those who had a new comp claim filed between March 2019 and January 2022 who may have been affected. People who do not get a letter but have had a work comp claim since 2006 might still qualify for credit monitoring, the department added.

The department said it took the web application offline after learning of the breach in January and that it has fixed the issue. The agency also said it worked with a forensics company and found no evidence that the information has been misused.
