A report by U.A.E.-based investment banking firm Alpen Capital Ltd. said the Gulf Cooperation Council nations recorded nine mergers and acquisitions in the insurance sector in 2021, maintaining M&A momentum from previous two years, Middle East Insurance Review reported. The majority of the M&A transactions between 2019 and 2021 were intra-regional, as local insurers’ tried to improve competitiveness and ensure stronger profitability.
