Insurer Intact Financial estimates $290 million in cat loss

Canadian property and casualty insurer Intact Financial Corp. has estimated $365 million Canadian ($290.75 million) in pre-tax catastrophe losses for the third quarter of the year, Reinsurance News reported. The claims mostly reflect the losses from severe weather events such as rain and hail storms in Ontario, Alberta and Atlantic Canada, Hurricane Ida, and the U.K. floods.
