BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. on Wednesday named its 2021 honorees and award winners, including the Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award for lifetime achievement in risk management.

The Goodell Award was presented to Pamela Popp, executive vice president, chief risk officer, at GB Specialty, a division of Gallagher Bassett Services Inc., RIMS said in a statement.

Named in honor of RIMS’ first president, Harry Goodell, the award pays tribute to individuals who have furthered the goals of RIMS and the risk management discipline.

Mark Habersack, a leader of the RIMS Nevada Chapter and director of risk management at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino Las Vegas, and Sue Mepham, a retired risk professional and a leader with the RIMS Saskatchewan Chapter in Canada, were recipients of the Ron Judd Heart of RIMS award.

The award pays tribute to the legacy of Mr. Judd, who served as RIMS executive director for 22 years. It honors individuals for outstanding performance in furthering risk management at the chapter level.

Elliot Long, U.S. risk management consultant for Aflac Inc., was named RIMS Rising Star of the Year, which honors up-and-coming risk management professionals under the age of 35 or who have seven or fewer years of professional experience in the industry.

Mr. Long was recognized for demonstrating “exceptional initiative, volunteerism, professional development, achievement and leadership potential,” RIMS said.

Lynn Haley Pilarski, risk manager at General Motors Co., was the recipient of the Richard W. Bland Memorial Award, which was created by the RIMS Kansas City Chapter in 1974 to recognize dedication and commitment in legislation or regulation.

On Tuesday RIMS named Michael Harrington, vice president-risk management and assistant secretary of Lockheed Martin Corp., as its 2021 Risk Manager of the Year, while Cheryl Lloyd, associate vice president, chief risk officer and vice president systemwide human resources for the University of California was inducted into the RIMS Risk Management Honor Roll.
