Peanuts, beverage, health insurance for COVID-19 costs

Emirates Group is offering free health insurance with airline ticket purchases to cover medical quarantine expenses should travelers be diagnosed with COVID-19 on their trip, the Dubai-based airline announced this month.
The offer, up to $176,000 in medical costs and $117 per day in quarantine costs for up to 14 days, aims to boost confidence in international travel during the pandemic, the airline said in a statement. “We know people are yearning to fly as borders around the world gradually re-open, but they are seeking flexibility and assurances should something unforeseen happen during their travel,” the airline said.
The coverage for COVID-19-related medical expenses and quarantine costs is immediately effective for customers flying on Emirates until Oct. 31, regardless of seat class, and is valid for 31 days from the moment they fly — legally, the airline warns.
Customers “are reminded that travel restrictions remain in place, and travelers will only be accepted on flights if they comply with the eligibility and entry criteria requirements of their destination countries,” according to the specifics of the offer.
