Qualcomm faces EU fine for competition violation

The European Commission is likely to fine U.S.-based chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. for blocking U.K.-based phone software maker Icera Inc. from the European market, Reuters reported citing sources. The European Union's competition regulator said that Qualcomm sold certain quantities of its chipsets to two of its customers at below cost between 2009 and 2011 to shut Icera out of the market.
