Pain management expert Mark Pew has joined Preferred Medical as senior vice president of product development and marketing, the Louisville, Kentucky-based pharmacy benefit manager and ancillary services provider announced Tuesday.

Mr. Pew most recently worked for PRIUM, which was acquired by Genex Services Inc. last fall.

In his role at Preferred Medical, Mr. Pew will identify new solutions and enhance existing ones to meet the needs of the firm’s clients, working in strategic business growth through client and partner relationships, according to a press statement.

Mr. Pew, an industry blogger and speaker, will continue to focus on the clinical and financial implications of opioids, benzodiazepines and the evolution of medical marijuana in workers compensation, according to a press release.

"Mark's vast experience and expertise in treating the whole patient will enable Preferred Medical to innovate new ways for our clients to drive better clinical and financial outcomes," Amy Wrightsel, chief operating officer for Preferred Medical, said in a press statement.

"I'm thrilled to bring my passion for challenging the industry to think differently about treatment to Preferred Medical," Mr. Pew said in the statement. "I look forward to collaborating with both Preferred Medical and its clients to find new ways to approach the care of injured workers."
