Rains, floods cause nearly $80 million damage to crops in Nepal

Nepal’s Ministry of Agricultural Development said that heavy rains and floods have caused more than 8 billion Nepalese rupees ($78 million) worth of damage to crops, The Kathmandu Post reported. Heavy rains lashed the country between Aug. 11 and Aug. 14, inundating several tracts of land in 31 districts, the ministry said. Paddy crops suffered the maximum damage, amounting to NPR 3.2 billion.
