Sompo International said Monday that Dale Willetts has joined the Bermuda-based specialty insurer to lead its newly formed accident and health insurance unit as executive vice president and head.
The new team of six underwriters, based in the company’s London office, will write a broad portfolio of global A&H business primarily through the company’s Lloyd's syndicate 5151, Sompo International said in a statement.
Mr. Willetts previously was head of underwriting accident and health at ANV Holdings B.V. He reports to Richard Housley, chief underwriting officer for Sompo International London market insurance.
“We are very pleased to welcome the A&H team to Sompo as we continue to expand our London presence into new product offerings and distribution channels,” Mr. Housley said in a statement. “Dale and his colleagues are a great addition to the London insurance platform that we have built over the last four years.”
In October, Sompo Holdings Inc. announced that it would buy property/casualty insurer Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd for $6.3 billion and rebrand it as Sompo International. The deal was completed in March.
Bermuda-based insurer Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd.'s shareholders have voted for the insurer's takeover by Japanese insurer Sompo Holdings Inc. for $6.3 billion, The Royal Gazette reported.
