Insurers not keen to cover risk of sea level rise

Data on rising sea levels showed that large swathes of Australia's Tasmanian coast could be routinely flooded by the end of the century, however insurers have decided that offering policies for sea level rise is not worth the risk, The Advocate reported. Campbell Fuller, general manager of communications and media relations at the Insurance Council of Australia, said that insurance policies would typically not cover losses caused by coastal erosion or actions of the sea.
