Recent unrest likely to have cost traders, industrialists about $150 million

An industry body said that the recent unrest in India's Jammu and Kashmir state is likely to cost traders and industrialists from Jammu region about 10 billion Indian rupees ($150 million), Daily Excelsior reports.

A curfew was imposed in several parts of Kashmir following violent protests and killings. The Federation of Industries Jammu estimated the losses to the industrial sector in Gangyal, Bari Brahmana, Digiana, Samba and Kathua to be over INR 4 billion. The unrest is likely to have cost the transport industry about INR 1.5 billion.
