Christophe Zaniewski has been appointed CEO of American International Group Inc. in France, the insurer announced Monday.
He will replace Fabrice Domange, who is joining one of AIG's principal commercial partners, AIG said in a statement.
Mr. Zaniewski most recently was chief operating officer for AIG for France and the Benelux region and has been with AIG since 2002. He is based in Paris.
Marco Dalle Vacche, managing director for southern Europe for AIG, said in the statement that Mr. Zaniewski had significantly contributed to managing challenges faced by AIG and the insurer's growth in France.
Several former American International Group Inc. executives have landed new roles within the insurance industry since the financially challenged insurer announced a management shake-up in December. AIG's executive shuffle followed repeated calls from Carl Icahn and other investors for AIG to split itself up.
