Heat wave prompts factories to stop, limit production

Poland has cut electricity supplies for industrial users for the first time in over a decade due to a heat wave that has hit the country, reports Reuters.

This has forced some firms to limit production. The situation is "very serious," said Ewa Kopacz, Poland's Prime Minister. The country's copper miner, KGHM Polska Miedz S.A., has warned that it may have to limit its output. Steel maker ArcelorMittal S.A.'s Polish unit said that it is receiving the minimum amount of power it requires. Polish chemical group Grupa Azoty Spolka Akcyjna said one of its units may be forced to cut production by around 10%.
