A seismic risk map commissioned by Chilean insurers' association might translate into a more accurate calculation of reserves by insurers, and consequently may reportedly lead to a fall in premiums for earthquake and tsunami coverage.
The risk map when applied to the calculation of maximum probable loss might result in a reduction in necessary reserves, reports BNamericas citing newspaper Estrategia. The maximum probable losses for tsunami risks could decrease in the order of double digits at a national level, said an official.
