Agriculture damage from floods in Australia tops $78.7 million

Damage to agriculture from the recent devastating floods and storms in Australia's Hunter Valley region has topped $100 million Australian ($78.7 million), reports Abc.net.au.

More than 1,000 cattle and more than 40,000 chickens have been lost due to floods and storms that hit the region in April.

"One of the things that really hit production was the loss of power for many days" that "caused a lot of damage to businesses and increased costs," said an official.
