Insurance regulator mandates agriculture cover in Nepal

Nepal's Insurance Board has made it mandatory for all nonlife insurers in the country to offer agriculture insurance and has allotted them certain districts to underwrite, reported E-Kantipur.

Insurers in the country's Kathmandu and Bhaktapur cities have been excluded from the provision.

"With this measure, we have planned to spread the agriculture insurance coverage in all 75 districts," said Phatta Bahadur KC, chairman of Insurance Board.
