The London-based Institute of Risk Management on Monday said it has appointed Ian Livsey as chief executive.
Mr. Livsey will be responsible for raising awareness of the IRM's professional standards for members and supporting its new certification plan, the organization said in a statement.
Previously, Mr. Livsey was chief executive at Gangmasters Licensing Authority, and he has led other U.K. standards-setting organizations such as the Centre for Rail Skills and SummitSkills.
“Ian's background in standards setting fits perfectly with IRM's renewed focus on standards and professionalism for risk practitioners,” IRM Chairman José Morago said in the statement.
“The complexity of today's risk environment makes an irrefutable case for IRM's focus on standards and certification,” Mr. Livsey said in the statement.
Political instability caused by low oil prices, increased shareholder activism and the threat to business caused by a potential U.K. withdrawal from the European Union are among the chief risk concerns for U.K. businesses in 2015, the Institute of Risk Management said Tuesday.
