Israel's Agriculture Ministry has begun the slaughter of 40,000 turkeys at a farm in the country's Sharon region following the detection of H5N1 virus, i24news reported.
There have been concerns that the virus might have spread to the neighboring farms in the region.
The news follows a recent detection of turkeys affected by H5N1 strain at the country's Aviel town.
"The culling of all the flocks is ongoing. Backyard birds in the village will also be culled," said the agriculture ministry.
