A Hong Kong government official has said that the government is looking to develop the country's captive insurance sector to diversify its financial services industry, Chinadialy.com.cn reported.

The move forms part of the government's strategy to enhance Hong Kong's financial risk management capability and capture the vast market potential.

The government also looks to develop the renminbi reinsurance sector, the official said.
