The number of insurers operating in Russia in the first half of 2014 totaled 425, down 6.5% from the same period in 2013, Forinsurer reports.

The sector's total insurance premiums for the six-month period stood at 507 billion rubles ($12 billion). The insurance industry's growth rate for the same period declined when compared with 2013.
