Nigeria: Shell yet to implement recommended clean-up measuresReprints
An evaluation has revealed that the Nigerian government and Royal Dutch Shell P.L.C. are yet to implement the United Nations Environmental Program's recommendation to create a $1 billion fund for clean-up, Bloomberg reports.
The recommended fund was to be used to clean up land contaminated by oil pollution in Ogoniland in the Niger delta.
A Shell spokesman said the company is not in a position "to implement the entirety of UNEP's recommendations unilaterally."
