USI Insurance Services L.L.C. has appointed former West Virginia Gov. W. Gaston Caperton III to a newly created role designed to capitalize on strategic growth opportunities in West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky.
Mr. Caperton, who has decades of experience in the insurance industry and led brokerage firm McDonough Caperton Insurance Group, will work closely with Michael J. Sicard, USI chairman, president and CEO, to strengthen USI's client base and cultivate new areas of investment, the Valhalla, New York-based broker announced in a statement Monday.
Acting as senior advisor, Mr. Caperton will also help to facilitate the integration of six locations in West Virginia, two in Kentucky and three in Virginia that were part of USI's acquisition of 40 Wells Fargo Insurance brokerage and consulting locations across the United States, according to the statement.
“Throughout my career, I have been passionate about making West Virginia the best that it can be,” Mr. Caperton said in the statement. “This is a great opportunity for me to not only help ensure a smooth transition occurs for our local offices in West Virginia and the mid-South but to leverage our fast growing economy for bolstering our client base, and to support strategic investment opportunities in locations I hold near and dear to my heart.”
Most recently, Mr. Caperton was head of Caperton Consulting L.L.C. and is based in Charleston, West Virginia.
