India: Andhra Pradesh politician seeks compensation for extensive crop damage

A political leader in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, has said that damage from heavy rains has been reported in around 125,000 acres of crop area.

Nara Chandrababu Naidu, chief of the Telugu Desam Party, has called on the state's Governor ESL Narasimhan to take measures to ensure crop damage assessment, The New Indian Express reported.

He also called on the government to provide compensation to the affected farmers.
