Australia: Cyclone Ita bill nears $1bn

Cyclone Ita has caused major damage to Queensland, Australia, and could leave a damage bill of up to $1 billion Australian ($939.4 million), reports News.com.au.

The cyclone has destroyed infrastructure and banana and sugar cane plantations, including around 700km of cane country from the Burdekin north to Mossman, according to the news website. Australia's Insurance Council has indicated that the complete damage picture is not yet available.
