India: Heavy rains damage crops, polling station in Meghalaya

Heavy rains and hailstones have damaged crops and a polling station in Meghalaya, Business Standard reported.

South West Garo Hills District Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh said "the roof of a school building which will be used as a polling station” for the upcoming elections in Dorambokgre village "was damaged completely and crops were damaged in several villages in the district."

Mr. Singh said roofs of more than 90% houses in villages were badly affected.
