Canada-wide settlement approved in Toyota 'unintended acceleration' case

A settlement with Toyota Motor Corp. relating to customer claims for alleged economic loss from its brake pedal and unintended acceleration-related recalls in 2009 and 2010 has been approved by courts in four Canadian provinces, The Record reported.

The provinces include Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan.

Steven Hamilton, representative plaintiff for members of the Ontario class, said "Toyota is offering substantial benefits to a very large number of Canadian consumers."
