Philippines: Super Typhoon Haiyan hits coconut oil exports

Coconut oil exports dropped 18% year-on-year in February 2014 because of the damage to coconut farms by Super Typhoon Haiyan, which hit the Philippines in November 2013, the United Coconut Association of the Philippines said.

The Philippine Coconut Authority said 34 million coconut trees in parts of Eastern Visayas suffered damage, Inquirer reported.

Of this, 45% of the trees were completely damaged.
