Netherlands: 40,327 birds culled after bird flu outbreak

Authorities have culled 40,327 chickens in the Flevoland region of north-west Holland, following an outbreak of H5N1 avian influenza, Farmers Weekly reported.

In December 2013, two cases H5N3 virus were reported on two farms in Groningen region that led to the culling of around 9,300 birds in the first case and 11,700 birds in the second.
