Clean-up, repair costs expected in millions following floods in Ireland

Councillor John O'Malley, Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, said he expects the clean-up and repair costs for damage caused by the recent storm and floods to be in many millions of euros, Mayo Advertiser reported.

Mr. O'Malley said the costs in the Westport area are expected to be at least €1 million ($1.3 million) and may even reach €2 million ($2.7 million).

He said the estimated costs for the Ballina, Belmullet, Mulranny, and Westport areas could surpass €5 million ($6.8 million).
