(Reuters) — State attorneys general from around the country are banding together to probe the Target Corp. data breach, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Friday.
Jaclyn Falkowski, a spokeswoman for the Connecticut Attorney General, said separately that Connecticut is joining with New York and other states in the probe.
A Target official could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Target Corp. data breach that exposed 40 million shoppers' debit and credit card account information has caused lawsuits, state and federal investigations and potential company reputation damage, while raising fresh concerns among other businesses about the worsening risk of cyber attacks.
