India: Fire at two factories cause damage of around $5.6 million

Major fire broke out in two factories – Sriam Labs Pvt. Ltd. and Hetero Labs Ltd. – in Andhra Pradesh, India, leading to a loss of around 200 million Indian rupees ($3.2 million) and INR 150 million ($2.4 million), respectively, The Hindu reported.

Fire broke out at Sriam Labs when a spanner fell while unloading methanol from a tanker, and it then spread to reactors and other chemicals setting the whole factory ablaze.
