Kenya: Insurance claims from Westgate mall attack could exceed $116 million

Kenya's Insurance Regulatory Authority said insurance claims from the Sep. 21, Westgate mall attack in Nairobi is expected to exceed 10 billion Kenyan shillings ($116 million), Sabahi reported.

Kenya's Daily Nation reported the mall has KES 6.7 billion coverage, but claims from shop owners and individuals who suffered losses are expected to push up the payout. Kenindia Assurance Co. Ltd. is the mall's insurer, and Lloyd's of London and the African Trade Insurance Agency Ltd. its reinsurers.
