China: Shanghai smog prompted flight cancellations

Shanghai's air pollution has come down to moderate levels after smog engulfed the city leading to flight cancellations and halting production at factories, Bloomberg reported.

Non-governmental environmental organization Greenpeace said the pollution may be coming from coal power plants and factories. In March 2013, Chen Jiping, a former leading member of the Communist Party's Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs, said pollution was the leading cause of social unrest in China.
