Australia: Queensland at risk of natural disasters, says Emergency Management official

Queensland is at "real risk" of earthquakes, Emergency Management Inspector-General Iain MacKenzie said. Mr. MacKenzie said the state should also be prepared for cyclones, The Courier-Mail reported.

Australian Seismological Centre director Kevin McCue said the state has had "two of the largest earthquakes in eastern Australia in the last century." Mr. McCue added that there is a possibility "for a large one every 100 years or so."
