Sherif Samy, head of the Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority, is in talks with insurers and the Insurance Federation of Egypt about expanding insurance cover against riots and political violence, news agency MENA reported.
Alaa al-Zuheiry, board member at the Insurance Federation of Egypt, said only 3% of customers are insured against such events, Egypt Independent reported.
Mr. al-Zuheiry said the ongoing events come under political violence, where damage payments will be made through special documents.
