BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Aon Global Risk Consulting buys forensic services firm Dempsey Partners

Aon Global Risk Consulting, the risk consulting business of London-based Aon P.L.C., on Friday said it has acquired the assets of Dempsey Partners L.L.C., a Wilton, Conn.-based provider of claims preparation and forensic accounting services, for an undisclosed sum.

The staff from Dempsey Partners will join Aon's existing claims preparation, claims advocacy, business interruption valuations and asset valuations teams to create a consulting unit offering forensic accounting expertise, Aon said in a statement announcing the acquisition.

Based in Wilton, Conn., Dempsey specializes in risk consultation and helping clients with complex claims and has offices in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, San Francisco and Tokyo. The Dempsey Partners brand eventually will be phased out in favor of the Aon brand, a company spokeswoman said.

“Major loss events of the past years have consistently demonstrated the need for high-quality claims services, specifically in the property, business interruption and contingent business interruption arenas,” Neil Harrison, group managing director of risk control, claims and engineering at Aon Global Risk Consulting, said in the statement. “By bringing Dempsey Partners to Aon, we can successfully supplement our existing claims expertise as well as provide critical support to clients seeking to ensure the adequacy of their business interruption coverage in advance of any loss.”

John Dempsey, former managing partner at Dempsey Partners, has been appointed managing director and practice leader of the consolidated unit. “I am excited at the potential to bring new services to clients, along with an even greater level of quality and innovation,” Mr. Dempsey said in the statement.

Eric Andersen, CEO of Aon Risk Solutions Americas, said the acquisition would add to the breadth and depth of technical expertise it can offer clients.

“This expansion of capabilities in the U.S. is a key step for our clients and for our firm,” Mr. Andersen said in the statement. “Our commitment to meeting the claims consulting and valuation needs of our clients around the world is a critical part of the value we provide to our clients and the addition of Dempsey Partners enhances our capability.”
