The U.K. Treasury has said in a study that Scotland's independence could significantly affect the country's finance sector, mainly banks and insurers, reported British daily The Guardian.
Sajid Javid, the economic secretary to the Treasury, warned that the independence would mean an end to the single, integrated market for financial services in the United Kingdom. Scottish finance secretary John Swinney responded saying that Scotland's financial services expertise would actually ensure good security for the economy, The Guardian reported.
